Pirate Radio

Pirate Radio is a fictitious tale of rock in roll buccaneers on the "high" Northern Sea directed by Richard Curtis...His Ensemble cast are Dj's On the pirate radio station called radio rock...Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays the American dj The Count...Curtis casts two Rhys one Ifans the other Darby you know Murray from Flight of the Conchords...Two alums from Shaun of the Dead... The always funny Nick Frost, and Bill Nighy who really looked like a zombie here too...Kenneth Branagh Plays a guy you'd like to kick...Emma Thompson in a sexy lil cameo....This isn't the worst film and there are some real good laughs...Still Curtis makes mostly chick flicks like 3 Weddings and a Funeral,Bridget Jones...Etc...So I found it Saccharine in its feel good em...The soundtrack rocks but I won't need to run out and get since I have most of the songs in my catalog anyway...Originally titled The Boat That Rocked in the U.K...Some real cute birds and lots of shagging but no nudity...

The Inglorious Bastards

As Quentine Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds still sits in my netflex queue with a very long wait next to it..I decided to stream Enzo G. Castellari's 1978 original "macaroni combat" film( I stole that phrase straight from wikipedia) while I wait...A poor mans dirty dozen or should I say not quit 1/2 dozen...Staring Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson as escaped military prisoners who can't help to be real American hero's after all...This is a fun action packed film that cashes in on its exploitative nature... Lots of flying bodies both axis and allied alike...Look close and you can see some of the wires to propel the stunt men...The racial tensions between Fred Williamsons character and the rest of the rag tag team is handled progressively by Enzo...This makes for a good matinee...

This Film Is Not Yet Rated

Censorship one of the things I hate the most...Hypocrisy that's another...Intolerance yet a 3rd...And last but not least cooperate control...These are all really evil things to me as an artist and us as movie buffs...The M.P.A.A. is all of the above according to Kirby Dick's Independent film This Film Is Not Yet Rated...If you haven't seen this documentary yet... I think you should if your reading this blog or follow it in any way...The intolerance and hypocrisy over homosexuality was well documented by Kirby...Kirby also outs the M.P.A.A.'s ratings board like he outs hypocritical gay right wing politicians and pundits in his last documentary Outrage...Wait in till you find out who's on the appeals board for the M.P.A.A.....Great interviews with many respected film makers...The uncensored clips are great too...

The Slammin' Salmon

I tend to love the adolescent humor of the Broken Lizard gang...At the end of Beerfest they claimed Potfest was coming soon ...I wish it had because The Slammin' Salmon sucked...The jokes were rancid because they were old and stale...Michael Clarke Duncan was funny in Ricky Bobby but here he's just mean ...Even a cameo by one of my favorites Lance Henriksen is plain lame and boy does he look old...There's not one female nipple and that's just nuts...I was real disappointed..This film made me Das Boot
